Firearm Safety Classes FAQ


Q: Does your course meet the State's requirements?
A: Yes, the NRA Basic Pistol Course that we teach is a Mass. approved LTC Basic Firearm Safety Course.

Q: I want to get a; _______, (F.I.D. Card, LTC B or LTC A license), is
this a course I need to take?

A: Yes, this course meets the criteria for any one of these licenses.

Q: When will I receive my certificate?
A: Your certificates will be issued by lead instructor Ed Glickman, after satisfactorily completing the course. You will receive two certificates, one from the NRA one from the Mass. State Police.

Q: After I show my certificates to the Police Chief in my town, will
he/she then issue me my license?

A: No, the certificate confirms that you have complied with the State's requirements to complete an approved Basic Firearms Safety Course. It does not guarantee an issuance of a license.

Q: Will I have the opportunity to fire a gun?
A: Yes, you will have the opportunity to shoot both revolvers and semi-automatics and apply the fundamentals of shooting.

Q: I have never shot a gun before, will this be a problem?
A: Absolutely not. This specific course includes the basic fundamentals
of shooting and an instructor will be at your side to assist you.

Q: If I am not a good shot will I fail the course?
A: No, while shooting proficiency is not criteria to pass the course
safe gun handling is, and with the hands on training you will receive,
you will learn safe gun handling. Your shooting proficiency will improve
when you join a club like the Holliston Sportsmen's Association and have
access to a range where you can practice on a regular basis.

Q: What does the course cover?
A: Some of the things you will learn include learning the difference between a revolver and a semi- automatic, the differences between a
single action double action and a double action only firearms. You will
know how to properly load, fire and unload each of those types of
firearms. The proper way to clean and store firearms and ammunition, along with the fundamentals of becoming a good shooter.

Q: What experience does your Lead Instructor Ed Glickman have?
A: Ed has been a certified NRA Instructor for nearly 20 years and a Mass. State Police certified Instructor since 1998.He is certified in Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Home Firearm Safety and Personal Protection. He is also a Certified Range Safety Officer.
